Virtual Therapy

Therapy Anywhere in Ontario

You cannot face driving yet. Or you are managing pain, or childcare, or you live an hour from the nearest clinic, and getting to an appointment is the thing standing between you and treatment.

Then the appointment comes to you. Secure video sessions for counselling, trauma therapy, physiotherapy and Registered Dietitian services, anywhere in Ontario, with the same clinicians and the same funding as an appointment in clinic. For clients in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton and everywhere beyond our clinic areas, this is usually the practical answer.

Injured in a motor vehicle accident? Start with a free intake call. We use it to understand what you need and to complete the funding request to your insurer. Your insurer has ten business days to respond, and treatment is booked once approval is in place. Case by case, we may begin sooner.

How It Works

Virtual Care in Practice

Reasonable questions about whether therapy works through a screen.

Does virtual therapy actually work?

For most of what we treat, yes. Virtual delivery of trauma therapy, CBT, and EMDR is well established and effective, and for many people it is the right arrangement.

That said, we generally recommend in person where it is possible. Seeing someone in their own home or in our clinic tells us a great deal that a screen does not, including how they are moving, managing at home, and coping day to day, and it allows us to assess and treat the whole picture rather than part of it. Virtual care is the right answer when travel, distance, childcare, or pain make attending difficult, and plenty of clients also find it easier to talk from their own sofa than in an unfamiliar room.

Where something genuinely needs to be done in person, we will say so. TMS, neurofeedback, and our device-based assessments require attendance, and while we do offer virtual physiotherapy, hands-on treatment can only be provided in person.

What do I need?

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera, an internet connection, and somewhere you will not be overheard. Headphones help with privacy and with sound.

You do not need to install anything complicated. We send a link, you click it at your appointment time.

If your connection is unreliable, tell us. We can work with audio only, and we can arrange a phone appointment instead.

Is it private and secure?

We use a secure platform that meets Canadian privacy requirements for health information. Sessions are not recorded.

The bigger practical question is usually your end. If you share a home and privacy is difficult, tell us. People have sessions in parked cars, in gardens, on walks and during a school run, and we will work around your circumstances rather than expecting ideal conditions.

Can children be seen virtually?

We generally recommend virtual sessions for children aged ten and up, as younger children find it much harder to stay engaged with a screen and usually do better in person or at home. Where a young person is seen virtually, we ask that a parent or guardian be nearby, and we keep sessions shorter and more active.

For some children in-person work is genuinely better. We will tell you honestly which we think applies, and our Our Grimsby, St. Catharines, Oakville, and Kitchener clinics all see children in person, and we also offer in-home appointments. Where it suits a child better, we can attend at school as well, with the school’s authorisation to be on the premises.

What about assessments?

Some assessments can be conducted virtually, including our social work and psychotherapy assessment and much of a vocational assessment.

Others require attendance because they involve physical measurement: neuropsychological testing, the neuromuscular and gait assessment, and the driving anxiety assessment. The quantitative sleep assessment happens in your own bed, with the device delivered to you.

We will explain what needs to happen where before anything is booked.

Is it covered by insurance?

Yes. Accident benefits and extended health plans cover virtual appointments on the same basis as in-person ones. We complete the paperwork and bill your insurer directly.

Greater Toronto Area

If You Are in the Greater Toronto Area

Across Toronto, Mississauga, and Brampton we work in your home or online rather than from a clinic, so there is no travel and no waiting room. Our clinics are in Grimsby, Kitchener, Oakville, and St. Catharines if you would prefer to come to us.

In-home counselling is available across the Greater Toronto Area. Physiotherapy home visits are limited to Hamilton, Niagara and the surrounding areas, so GTA clients needing physiotherapy can attend our Grimsby clinic, or we can recommend one of our community partners nearer to them while we deliver the rest.

Our Oakville clinic, inside Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, is the closest premises for most western GTA clients, and is where TMS and neurofeedback are delivered.
