Employee Assistance Program Provider in Ontario
Workplace mental health for Ontario employers: employee assistance programs, critical incident response, first responder support, and wellness education. Delivered across the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton, Niagara, Waterloo Region and province-wide by video.
Most EAPs offer a short block of generic counselling and a referral out when that runs out. We deliver the short-term work and the ongoing treatment, so nobody has to start again with a stranger at the point they have finally begun to open up.
Program Components
Programs are built from these components and scoped to your organization.
Short-Term Counselling
Six to ten sessions per employee per year as standard, where the industry norm is three to eight. Set the number higher if you want to, and we will hold to it. Confidential, self-referred, and delivered in person at our clinics, at your workplace, or virtually anywhere in Ontario.
Delivered by registered psychotherapists, psychologists, social workers and nurse practitioners rather than a rotating pool of contractors.
Symptom Tracking Between Sessions
Every employee gets access to a secure digital tool for brief check-ins on sleep, mood and stress between appointments. It takes a couple of minutes and it belongs to them.
Their clinician sees the responses, so a decline is picked up and acted on rather than waiting for the next booked session. Employers never see individual data, only anonymised aggregate reporting.
Critical Incident Response
On-site response within 48 hours of a workplace death, serious injury, violent incident, or other critical event.
Structured group debriefs, individual support for those most affected, and guidance for managers on what to say and what not to say in the days that follow.
Ongoing Treatment Beyond the Cap
Where an employee needs more than short-term counselling, treatment continues with the same clinician rather than restarting elsewhere on a waiting list.
Funded through extended health benefits, accident benefits where a collision is involved, or by arrangement with you.
Group Debriefs
Facilitated group sessions after an incident, or as ongoing support for teams whose work is inherently difficult.
Structured so that participation is voluntary and nobody is exposed in front of colleagues.
Wellness Workshops & Education
Practical sessions on stress, sleep, burnout, trauma exposure and supporting a struggling colleague.
Delivered on site or virtually, sized to your teams, and written for the work your people actually do rather than generic wellbeing content.
Access to the Full Team
Because we are a multidisciplinary clinic, your program can include psychological assessment, physiotherapy, dietitian services, TMS and neurofeedback where clinically indicated.
We also work with community partners providing occupational therapy across Ontario, so ergonomic assessment, functional capacity and return-to-work support can be arranged where they are needed. That is considerably more than a counselling-only EAP can offer.
Manager Consultation
A confidential line for managers and HR who need guidance on how to approach a team member they are worried about, or how to support someone returning after a leave.
No clinical information about the individual is disclosed. The advice is about what to say, what to avoid, and what accommodation tends to work.
Police, Fire & Paramedic Services
First responders are famously, and reasonably, sceptical of clinicians who do not understand the work.
Measured Outcomes, Not Just Usage
Most employee assistance programs can tell you how many people called. We can tell you whether they got better, without ever identifying anyone.
For Your Team Member
A secure digital tool of their own, for brief check-ins on sleep, mood, stress and function between appointments. A couple of minutes to complete, on their own phone.
Their clinician sees their responses. Their employer, their manager, and HR never do. We state that plainly at the outset, because a tool nobody trusts is a tool nobody uses.
For the Clinician
Treatment usually depends on how someone happens to feel on the day of an appointment. Tracking shows the pattern in between, which is where deterioration actually shows up first.
If the trend is going the wrong way, we reach out rather than waiting for the next booked session. That is the difference between an early adjustment and a leave of absence.
For Your Organization
Reporting on uptake, broad presenting themes, and whether symptom scores are improving across the group, prepared as frequently as you would like it, whether that is monthly, quarterly, or annually. Enough to know the program is working and where the pressure sits.
Aggregated and anonymised throughout, with no individual ever identifiable. Reporting that gives you something to take to a budget conversation, rather than a call volume figure.
Acting Early
The value of tracking is not the data, it is the timing. Most absence begins with several weeks of declining sleep and function that nobody records.
Seeing that trend lets us adjust treatment, recommend an accommodation, or bring in another discipline before a difficult period becomes a leave of absence.
The privacy wall is absolute. Clinical information is personal health information under Ontario law and stays between your team member and their clinician. Nothing identifiable reaches you, and we tell every participant exactly that before they begin.
Organizations We Serve
Programs are contracted directly or delivered as a subcontracted provider.
Direct to Employer
We contract directly with employers, municipalities, and police, fire and paramedic services, of any size.
Programs are scoped to your headcount and your sector, with pricing set out clearly before you commit.
As a Provider Partner
We work as a subcontracted provider to existing employee assistance program providers and third-party administrators who need clinical capacity, multilingual delivery, or in-person coverage across Ontario.
You keep the client relationship. We deliver the clinical work under your program.
How Programs Are Structured
Session numbers set by contract, typically six to ten. Delivered in person at our clinics, at your workplace, or virtually anywhere in Ontario.
Self-referral by your team members, manager referral where appropriate, and interpretation available in over 300 languages at no additional cost.
Switching From Another Provider
Most organizations come to us already holding an employee assistance contract, usually after a critical incident or a run of long absences made the gaps obvious.
We will review what you have, tell you honestly where we would add something and where your existing arrangement is adequate, and take on only the parts that need it.
Every program is scoped individually. Tell us your headcount, your sector and what you are trying to solve, and we will put a proposal together.
Why Organizations Change EAP Provider
Most human resources teams do not go looking for a new employee assistance program until something makes the shortcomings of the current one obvious.
Absence Costs More Than the Program
Absenteeism, presenteeism and short-term disability claims cost an employer far more than an employee assistance program does. A mental health leave that could have been prevented by early treatment is the single most expensive outcome on the list.
Our symptom tracking and clinical follow-up exist to shorten that curve, and our reporting lets you see whether it is working rather than assume it.
Psychological Health & Safety Obligations
Ontario employers have duties around psychological health and safety in the workplace, and the CSA national standard sets expectations for how those are met. Boards increasingly ask what evidence exists that a program is effective.
Aggregate outcome reporting gives you something substantive to put in front of a board or joint health and safety committee.
Wait Times and Access
A program nobody can get into is a line item rather than a benefit. National providers commonly quote two to three weeks for a first appointment, and longer for anything specialised.
We see most new clients within a week, in person across the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton, Niagara and Waterloo Region and by video anywhere in Ontario, with interpretation in over 300 languages at no additional cost.
Brokers and Benefits Advisors
We work with group benefits brokers and benefits consultants who need a mental health provider for a client and want something more substantial than a call centre.
Send us the headcount, the sector and the budget, and we will prepare a written proposal you can take to your client. We are comfortable responding to a formal request for proposal.
Where We Already Work
We are embedded in Ontario’s health system rather than operating outside it, which matters both for referrers and for organizations looking to subcontract clinical capacity.
Ontario Health Team Membership
Critical Trauma Therapy is a member organization of the West Toronto Ontario Health Team, one of the partnership of health and social service providers listed on its membership roster, and of the Mississauga Ontario Health Team.
Ontario Health Teams exist so that patients move between providers without falling through the gaps between them. Membership means we work inside those local systems rather than alongside them, and that referrals into our services connect to the wider network of care a person may already be receiving. West Toronto covers the west end of the city; Mississauga Health covers the Mississauga area.
For partners across Toronto and Peel, it means we are a named, accountable provider within the region’s own governance structures rather than an unknown vendor.
Urgent Response Services
We provide counselling services under Urgent Response Services, supporting people at the point where a situation has escalated and waiting for routine care is not viable.
We also partner with other URS providers who deliver the broader response but do not staff clinical counselling internally. If you hold URS obligations and need the counselling component covered, we can deliver it within your service model rather than competing for the contract.
Available in person across our clinic areas, in the community, and virtually anywhere in Ontario.
Request a Proposal
Email info@criticaltraumatherapy.com with your organization, approximate headcount, and what you are looking for. We will come back with a scoped proposal rather than a brochure.
If you would rather talk it through first, call 289-547-5911.
We will tell you honestly if what you need sits outside what we deliver well.
